iRacing: Season 4 2025 Road Series Update

Every season in this world we feel the same thing: that mix of childlike excitement like when we got a brand-new bike and the adult fear that someone might take away the bike we already loved. Season 4 2025 is exactly that.

The new toy: IL15

First, let’s talk about the Dallara IL15. This car is like that muscular cousin who shows up at family gatherings and makes the rest of us fade into the background. It’s got push to pass, a growl that basically says, “out of the way, I’m coming through”, and honestly, everything points to it becoming the series of the moment.

But… (because there’s always a “but”)… to make room for it, they’ve decided to send the PM-18 to a darker corner where it’ll only see fixed ovals and private leagues. And that, my friends, hurts.

The PM-18 wasn’t the most famous kid on the block, but it was one of those cars that helped you improve, that made you feel like you were really learning to race. I, for one, will miss it like that playlist you deleted by accident.

On the sportscar side: an Aston Martin

Then we have the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO. Remember the first time you heard an engine that gave you goosebumps? Multiply that by ten. The car joins all GT3 series and IMSA as a special guest. Of course, the Audi R8 had to slip out the back door. That’s life: one enters, another leaves. Like a reality show.

On the bright side, the LMP2 Challenge Fixed returns (thank you, universe), the Ferrari 296 Challenge steps up a rung because it was too wild for newcomers, and the TCR races adjust to 20 minutes so that rookies don’t learn the hard way that you need to add extra fuel.

The thorny topic: more GT3… really?

And here comes the controversial part. They’ve invented three new regional GT3 series. On paper, the idea is good: more variety, more opportunities. But let’s be honest, more series also means more people spread thin.

Imagine a party where, instead of everyone dancing together in the living room, someone opens three extra rooms with the same music. Yes, technically there are more options, but in the end the dance floor feels half empty.

So, what are we left with?

  • We’ve got new cars to get excited about, like the IL15 and the Aston Martin GT3 EVO.
  • We’ve got adjustments that make sense, like the Ferrari’s promotion and the return of LMP2 Challenge Fixed.
  • And we’ve got decisions that leave us scratching our heads, like sending the PM-18 into exile or splitting the GT3 family even further.

See you on the track!
