  1. Reada like ans ad to be quite honest. I respect what the iRacing team has built, their [financially motivated] dedication to evolving and improving it. When the author claims other sims are simply approximations while iRacing simulates every last granular detail, it’s laughable though. There are plenty of sims doing a better, more detailed and more true-to-life job of simulating everything from torque curves/delivery, to suspension dynamics to tire modeling.

    iRacing has nailed the whole online racing career, racecraft and much of the atmosphere we love. They have not blown any socks off in the “physics” department at any point compared to the market at large. They’ve consistently had equal or arguably greater peers in that department. Many kudos to their take on racing in the wet though, it took a decade+, but they nailed it arguably better than anyone else to date on many fronts.

    Absolute nonsense, other simulations use techniques to gather and use data just the same way (and in some cases better) than what iRacing does.

  3. It’d be cool if they could ever figure out how to get cars to slide realistically—which means being able to *catch* slides realistically.

    By all accounts, both dirt and rain model this more accurately than dry road.
