Welcome, fellow sim racing fans and brave budgeteers, to that time of year when we stare at our wallets, take a deep breath, and whisper: “Alright, guess we’re buying content again.”
Yes, the new iRacing season is here, and once more we must choose what to buy: cars, tracks, the most active series, how to save money, and even how to make iRacing pay you. You heard that right: get paid to race. It sounds like a pyramid scheme, but no this one’s legit.
This season brings a new track: Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. And it’s not just a collectible; it shows up in several series, which screams must-buy. If you skip it, prepare to watch friends race while you stare at the screen like a kid outside a toy shop.
If you’re wondering, “Which GT4 should I buy?” the wisest answer is: the one you like most. The GT4 BOP is pretty well balanced, so don’t overthink it pick the car that makes you smile in replays. If you buy for hype, sure, grab the Mustang.
Note: In this guide we cannot analyze all the racing series, we will only cover the most famous road series. Therefore, it is vitally important that you analyze well your series and the content to be used to manage your budget.
Class D: The Jungle Where Everyone Starts
Here’s where the fun begins. Or the chaos, depending on your mood.
If you want to spend zero on cars, you can still race popular series with base content like:
- BMW M Power
- GR86 Fixed
- Simlab
Recommended tracks:
Mexico
Watkins Glen
Road Atlanta
Suzuka
Red Bull Ring
That bundle alone covers a ton of fun.
If you’re willing to invest a little, there’s GT4 for the fixed series. And don’t forget Formula 4, the perfect place to learn how to dodge carnage at velocity.
Class C: Where You Start to Feel Like a Real Driver
You arrive here thinking, “Now I’m almost pro.” False.
It only means you’ll spend more but you’ll have a blast.
- Falken Tire Challenge: a lovely multiclass with LMP3 and GT4.
- Mazda Advanced: the MX-5 never dies.
- Ferrari Fixed: because “Ferrari” sells itself.
- Porsche Cup: teaches humility ,no TC, no ABS, maximum spice.
If you prefer formulas, you have Indy Next, Super Formula Lights, and the evergreen Dallara F3. Personally, I’d pick the F3. SF Lights is easier, sure, but being bored is easy too.

Classes B & A: The Champions League of Sim Racing
Now we’re talking crème de la crème or the event horizon of your wallet.
- Prototype Challenge with GTP (buy the one you love; they’re all pricey).
- LMP2 Fixed: back again, to many smiles.
- Five GT3 series: yes, five. More options to match your tracks… and maybe more diluted participation.
- IMSA: the absolute queen, GT3, LMP2, and GTP in one glorious multiclass party.
Track priorities
- Interlagos
- Suzuka
- Mexico
- Indianapolis
- Barcelona
The goal isn’t to own everything, it’s to own what genuinely entertains you. If you can make iRacing pay a bit along the way, even better.
This isn’t just about being the fastest. It’s about surviving the chaos, savoring wheel-to-wheel fights, and every now and then laughing at yourself when you spear a wall on the formation lap.
Because at the end of the day, only one thing truly matters: enjoy the racing.
