iRacing – Watkins Glen Gets an Upgrade for the next Season

Just yesterday we talked about Knockhill arriving in this new season to iRacing and today is the day to confirm one of the most anticipated updates of the content we already enjoy.

Watkins Glen is an incredibly fast and popular circuit, with few curves that everyone likes and therefore has great participation. For years it has been asking for the update since the circuit has had resurfacing over the years that eliminate much of the bumps from the beginning of the last decade.

In Watkins Glen, American road racing was restarted in 1948 with a 10.6 km circuit made up of roads that went from concrete to dirt. It was raced there until 1952.

From 1953 to 1955 it was run on a real circuit, although it was provisional, and in 1956 a permanent 3,700-meter circuit was designed that lasted until 1981, when the circuit went bankrupt. But in 1983 it was bought by the glass company Corning Glass and in 1984 it was reopened. In 1992 came the definitive remodeling, with a layout of two variants: a short and very fast one of 3,950 meters and a longer and more twisty one of 5,430 meters.

See you on the track!
