Last weekend the 2nd qualifier race for The Real Race, Lamborghini’s first esports event, took place on the virtual Spa Francorchamps track with hundreds of drivers competing in Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Three qualifier races remain with registrations opening again on June 26th at esports.lamborghini.

  • Heading to the live finals this September will be sim racers Fulvio Barozzini, who started online racing in 2004 and became a serious sim racer in 2014, and Samir Ibraimi who started competitive sim racing in 2018
  • Fulvio and Samir will head to the live Finals in Sant’Agata Bolognese in Italy, the Lamborghini headquarters with Nils Naujoks (aka n1lyn), a former professional sim racer since 2003 and now manager of G2 Sim Racing, French sim racer Arnuad Lacombe and Matthias Egger, who has competed in the iRacing.com World Championship Grand Prix Series and been sim racing for over 19 years
  • Drivers had to compete in the wet during the 2nd qualifier race and as a result cars were prone to rotating easily. All players made it clear through the first turn with Fulvio Barozzini taking the lead
  • A number of players went head to head during the competition, Samir Ibraimi, Marko Pejic and Gianfranco Fausto Giglioli at one stage going three wide. This battle for the 2nd spot continued throughout the race. Marko Pejic went wide and got turned around after understeering, allowing Samir Ibraimi to take the 2nd spot
  • Quote from Fulvio Barozzini on why he entered The Real Race and his excitement for the finals: “I had been playing it (Assetto Corsa Competizione) for 2-3 months and fell in love, definitely the best GT3 class simulator on the market. Suddenly I stumbled on the news that Lamborghini was launching their first eSport event on ACC, with magnificent prizes for the winners, and decided to join immediately! A quick registration, then it was just about entering the Special Event called Lamborghini – The Real Race on Assetto Corsa Competizione and doing my best behind the wheel. Pretty straightforward. The qualifier, in its two sub-phases (hotstint and race), was pretty cool. No flaws on the organization side, tough (but fair) competition and a lot of fast drivers attempting to qualify. Personally I had a shot already in the first round at Monza, but felt really bad with illness on race day and couldn’t do my best. Let’s say I rebounded nicely at Spa for round 2 and I’m very proud of what I’ve been able to do! Can’t wait to join the other 11 guys next September in the Lamborghini HQ. It’s been a long, long time since I did a LAN race with all the opponents physically present in the same place, it’s going to be exciting!”

Three qualifier races remain. Registration for the third race opens on June 26th at esports.lamborghini for the Nurburgring track with the race taking place on July 5th.
