After a few days since the launch of the BMW M Hybrid V8 in Le Mans Ultimate, Studio 397 has arrived just in time to also add the design from the BMW Art Car collection.
Just weeks after its world premiere in the French capital, Paris, the latest edition of the iconic BMW Art Car collection is now making its virtual world debut in Le Mans Ultimate, before the real car begins its journey to the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend.
The design was created by renowned New York artist Julie Mehretu, who had the honor of designing the twentieth Art Car for the Bavarian brand. The year 2024 is especially significant for BMW, as it also marks 25 years since their overall victory at Le Mans in 1999 with the legendary V12 LMR.
The striking BMW M Hybrid V8 takes over for the German team in 2024, and following its debut on the Circuit de la Sarthe during the official test day yesterday, the BMW Art Car design will arrive in the official game of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the paint already dry on Monday, June 10th, as part of the June free update, a small additional bonus for the Le Mans Ultimate community ahead of the biggest motorsport event of the year.
The Studio 397 team mobilized quickly minutes after the official launch. Working with BMW, the development team converted the complex design with official approval in less than two weeks, followed by a week of testing and marketing capture. 20 days after the public presentation in Paris on May 21st, the Art Car will now be in the hands of the public around the world today (June 10th).
For fans attending the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, spectators will be able to drive the BMW M Hybrid V8 Art Car #20 around the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans Ultimate starting Tuesday, June 11th, when the free simulation experience presented by Thrustmaster opens in the fan village, located near the main paddock.
