Le Mans Ultimate Takes the Next Step

Le Mans Ultimate update 2025 june

Rarely does an evolution feel as significant as the one we’re about to witness in Le Mans Ultimate . The upcoming update, arriving on June 10, is shaping up to be the most ambitious to date — and, for many, the one that finally sets the simulator on a steady course.

The €2.5 million investment from PMAX, a virtual reality tech company, has proven crucial. Not only does it ensure financial stability for the studio, but it also shows that someone else believes in the project’s long-term future. And it’s starting to show.

Driver Swaps: Finally Here

Being the official simulator of the World Endurance Championship, it was baffling that driver swaps weren’t available until now. This update finally introduces this feature, allowing teams to switch drivers fully integrated within the game — no plugins, no hacks.

They’ve also worked to ensure performance and system stability, even allowing a teammate to take over from the pits if a driver disconnects. For now, this will only be available in special online events.

Teams, Roles & Strategy

Team creation goes beyond just a name and logo. Each member can take on a specific role, including *engineer*, who gets an advanced data view during the race. You can even create subgroups within teams to manage different events or specialties. All of this is available for free for up to six drivers per team.

Want more? That’s where the Race Control or Race Control Plus subscription comes in — but only the team creator needs it.

Custom Skins: Yes, But Not Quite

Here’s the bittersweet part. Custom liveries are finally available for official online races, using templates provided by the game. The system automatically downloads and displays them for all players — no manual installation needed.

The catch? Only Race Control subscribers can use custom skins. Owning the game and DLCs isn’t enough. Worse yet, there’s no in-game sharing system, which could lead to endless duplicates. It would be great to see a built-in gallery in the future.

Highly requested content is finally here: the **Losail circuit in Qatar**, scanned in 2024. It’s a welcome addition to a game still short on tracks. Even better, they’ve included a short layout of the circuit — proving once again that WEC exclusivity isn’t a limitation anymore. Well played.

More GT3s, For Better or Worse

Le Mans Ultimate 03

Two new GT3 cars are coming: the Lamborghini Huracán EVO2 and the Lexus RC-F GT3. While the category is already well-populated, fans of GT3 racing will be pleased. These are included in the current Season Pass.

There are updates to the GT3 tire model, a smarter class-based starting system, and removal of an exploit involving clutch-based fuel saving. A new fuel calculator has been added to the black box, customizable per stint. If you’re not hitting your target, the engineer will let you know — and not politely.

Stability and What’s Next

Crashes and bugs have been addressed, and although some persist, performance has generally improved. Even better, this update coincides with the real-life 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the studio will be present to announce the future of the sim in a joint press event with the ACO.

They’ve confirmed another announcement video will follow — meaning even more features are on the horizon.

This isn’t just another patch. It’s a statement of intent. Studio 397 has finally found a clear direction, and whether you agree with it or not, that’s far better than aimlessly drifting. Every new feature aligns with a specific vision, and it’s all being built with consistency.

You may not like the subscription model, or still miss some content, but there’s no doubt that Le Mans Ultimate is maturing fast.

Happy Racing!
