Maxmix – The Volume Mixer for Everyone

The installation of a simulator, although at first it seems simple, the truth is that it becomes more complicated over time through new addons. From the first advances in which we add the headsets and make them compatible with the usual speakers, to the movement units or vibration devices such as bodyshakers, buttkickers, etc. Managing that pile of audio sources (browser, game, Discord, Spotify, etc) and output devices has become a bit of a headache for some simracers, so it is normal that solutions end up appearing that in one way or another add ease to the management of these.

A few weeks ago the creator of Maxmix, Ruben Henares, contacted us to warn us of the existence of this small piece of hardware that can be quite useful for those users who live in continuous battle with the Windows mixer.

Maxmix is a knob (a rotary switch) with a small OLED display area that by means of short, long and double clicks allows to manage and interact with all audio sources in the PC. It uses a 6 MB installation program compatible with Windows.

The beauty of this project is that it is completely open, so both the instructions for creation and access to program code are available through the same web presentation and can expect improvements, customizations and more features in the future.

The cost of doing it yourself is no more than 30 euros, and although it is not as easy to do as an iFlag (it needs a soldering iron) it is not so difficult either to not try it if you are interested.

Next week we will make an article with much more information about its daily use and its different modes.
