Mercedes-AMG GT3 And GT4 Now Available on iRacing!

According to a couple of tweets from iRacing, the new Mercedes-AMG GT3 and GT4 will be available on the simulator next season. Both will be joined by the other vehicles in their respective classes. In the case of the 2020 GT3, it will arrive to replace the category’s existing classic, which will become legacy content. Furthermore, if you purchased the current Mercedes GT3 within the last 24 months, your account will be reimbursed.

Since its introduction in 2015, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 has been one of the top challengers in sports car racing. The car took home five top six finishes, including the top four, at the Nurburgring 24 Hours at its first attempt, and found success with Riley Technologies at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship main events at Daytona and Sebring shortly thereafter. For the 2020 season, the car received a series of updates including aerodynamic tweaks to the front splitter and rear wing, as well as aesthetic updates to bring it closer to its road-going counterpart. The 6.3-liter V8 powerplant producing 550 horsepower and the six-speed sequential transmission remain from its first iteration. Now, the fully updated Mercedes-AMG GT3 comes to iRacing, and it’s your chance to test drive the next generation of German road-racing performance.

Compared to its big brother in the GT3 class, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 is still very powerful. Despite sporting a smaller 4.0-liter V8 engine, which puts it on par with a road-going Mercedes-AMG GT, the car still produces a whopping 544 hp. The car also has most of the signature elements that differentiate the design of Mercedes vehicles from their competitors, from a long, menacing front end to a distinctive grille that lets other racers know exactly who’s following you. In the hands of the Black Falcon and Schnitzelalm racing teams, the car has repeatedly proved its worth at the Nurburgring 24 Hours, winning the competitive SP10 class in its first two attempts and adding a third victory in 2021. Also a popular addition to the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge grid, the TGM team gave the car its first championship in 2018 with drivers Hugh Plumb and Owen Trinkler, and the car took at least one win in each of its first four seasons in the division.
