MOZA Flight Adds Linux and macOS Force Feedback Support via FFB-Bridge

MOZA has partnered with FFB-Bridge to expand force feedback support for its flight simulation hardware beyond Windows, providing a supported route for compatible MOZA Flight devices on Linux and macOS.

Announced on September 1, 2026, the collaboration gives FFB-Bridge direct access to MOZA hardware, official SDK resources and the company’s technical team. The move should allow earlier hardware testing, faster resolution of device-specific issues and more reliable compatibility across supported desktop platforms.

Importantly, this announcement concerns MOZA Flight hardware rather than MOZA Racing wheel bases. It should therefore not be interpreted as official Linux or macOS support for the MOZA R5 Pro, R5, R9, R12 or R16 Ultra.

MOZA Force Feedback on Linux and macOS

FFB-Bridge is a desktop application designed to translate live aircraft data from supported simulators into force feedback effects for compatible flight controls. The software is free to download, processes force feedback locally and does not require an application account for its core functionality.

Linux support is particularly interesting for simulation users. FFB-Bridge supports Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 running through Proton, alongside the native Linux versions of X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12.

Support on macOS is currently more restricted. FFB-Bridge’s current user documentation specifies Apple Silicon Macs and X-Plane 12 for supported MOZA hardware. Microsoft Flight Simulator connectivity remains limited to Windows and Linux.

FFB-Bridge is distributed as a Linux AppImage and macOS package alongside its Windows version, giving compatible force feedback hardware a single software layer across the three desktop operating systems.

Which MOZA Flight devices are supported?

The partnership initially focuses on several of MOZA’s current force feedback flight products. FFB-Bridge lists the MOZA AB6 Flight Simulator, MOZA AB9 Force Feedback Base and MOZA AY210 Yoke Base as supported in current builds.

The AB6 is the more accessible option, combining a 6 Nm force feedback base with MOZA’s MHG flightstick. The AB9 steps up to a dual-servo system capable of up to 12 Nm peak torque, aimed at users looking for a stronger and more configurable flight control system.

The AY210 takes a different approach by replacing the traditional flightstick with a force feedback yoke system. MOZA specifies up to 210 N of pitch force, 9 Nm of sustained roll torque and 150 mm of travel, targeting general aviation and commercial aircraft simulation rather than fighter-style controls.

MOZA’s newer AY90 is also part of the wider Flight ecosystem, although FFB-Bridge currently lists it as planned for support following hardware access and physical validation rather than as a fully validated device today.

From community support to direct collaboration

FFB-Bridge already supported selected MOZA devices before the partnership was announced. The significant change is that development no longer has to depend solely on community testing, remote reports or independent investigation.

FFB-Bridge now has direct access to current MOZA hardware and official SDK documentation, as well as a communication channel with MOZA’s technical team. This should make it easier to validate firmware changes, understand device behaviour and troubleshoot compatibility problems on operating systems that are not MOZA’s traditional focus.

The software can also manage supported MOZA hardware directly while in use. According to FFB-Bridge’s documentation, the base retains its MOZA Cockpit configuration until FFB-Bridge is armed, at which point the application temporarily controls the force feedback behaviour before restoring the previous state when it is disarmed or closed.

This is not native MOZA Cockpit support

There is an important distinction between this partnership and MOZA releasing its own complete software suite for Linux or macOS.

MOZA has not announced native Linux or macOS versions of MOZA Cockpit as part of this collaboration. Force feedback functionality is instead provided through FFB-Bridge, with MOZA supporting the project through hardware access, technical documentation and engineering assistance.

That makes the arrangement considerably stronger than an unofficial workaround, but it is still different from having MOZA’s full Windows software environment available natively on Linux or macOS.

The distinction is especially relevant for sim racers. MOZA’s announcement does not mean its racing ecosystem has suddenly received equivalent Linux or macOS support. Products such as the R5 Pro, R9 and R12 continue to rely on separate community-driven Linux solutions where available.

A useful step for simulation outside Windows

Windows remains the primary platform for specialist force feedback hardware, but the MOZA and FFB-Bridge partnership demonstrates that manufacturers are beginning to take Linux and macOS simulation users more seriously.

For Linux users in particular, running Microsoft Flight Simulator through Proton while retaining force feedback support on compatible MOZA hardware removes one of the limitations normally associated with moving away from Windows. X-Plane users have an even more direct route thanks to its native Linux support.

The partnership does not transform MOZA’s entire hardware ecosystem into a cross-platform one, but for owners of supported MOZA Flight hardware it provides a considerably more structured route to force feedback on Linux and macOS than relying solely on unsupported community solutions.
