MOZA Racing Launches NexGen 4.0 FFB for All Wheelbases

moza wheelbase 4

A press note from Moza Racing with the launch of the NextGen 4.0 FFB for all their wheelbase roster.

We recently announced a major update to our direct drive ecosystem, introducing the NexGen 4.0 FFB force feedback software across our entire wheelbase lineup, along with significant hardware upgrades for the R9 V3, R12 V2, R16 V2, and R21 V2 direct drive wheelbases.
This latest release marks a significant leap forward in the driving experience, delivering enhanced control precision, improved force feedback, and greater realism.

NexGen 4.0 FFB: Available for All MOZA Wheelbases

Every MOZA direct drive wheelbase, from the entry-level R3 to the flagship R21, now benefits from the new NexGen 4.0 FFB software.

Key features include:

Advanced Cogging Compensation
Enhanced algorithms deliver buttery-smooth torque with near-zero cogging, instantly noticeable from startup to full rotation, delivering a more natural and immersive steering sensation.

Intelligent Thermal Management
For endurance races or hot-weather sessions, the new system actively manages heat to prevent torque fade, ensuring consistent force feedback from start to finish. This is especially beneficial for smaller models like the R5 and R9, which have less thermal mass.

Force Feedback Interpolation
This update smooths out transitions between force levels, providing more progressive and lifelike feedback—particularly noticeable during corner entry, slide recovery, or quick direction changes.

Force Feedback Decoupling
Our force feedback decoupling technology allows drivers to independently adjust in-game spring, damper, friction, and inertia forces. This means the steering feel can be refined without affecting vibration feedback, enabling more precise, scene-specific tuning.
It delivers a more realistic and customizable experience, with consistent force feedback across different racing titles—perfect for sim racers who demand control and accuracy at every corner.

Pit House Software: Smarter Tools for Better Driving

We’ve also rolled out a major update to its Pit House software, expanding functionality far beyond force feedback tuning.

Expanded Game Compatibility and Telemetry
Now supporting 32 racing titles and over 220 telemetry data points, Pit House integrates seamlessly with almost every major sim racing platform. Support for Assetto Corsa Competizione and F1 24 has been significantly improved.

Built-in AI Coach
In collaboration with Track Titan, we’ve added an AI-powered driving coach to Pit House. This system analyzes user inputs—throttle, braking, steering, racing lines—and compares them to optimal references, providing actionable insights for improving driving performance.
Whether addressing a troublesome corner or chasing the final tenths, the AI coach identifies exactly where time is being lost.

Real-Time Mobile Tuning
With the MOZA mobile app, users can adjust wheel settings, force feedback curves, and pedal response on the fly—without pausing the race. It’s a powerful feature for efficient fine-tuning mid-session.

Hardware Upgrades: R9 V3, R12 V2, R16 V2, R21 V2

While the software updates benefit all users, MOZA’s mid-to-high-end wheelbases receive major hardware enhancements:

21-Bit Magnetic Encoder – Ultra-Fine Precision
The upgraded R9 V3, R12 V2, R16 V2, and R21 V2 now feature a 21-bit magnetic encoder that divides each wheel rotation into 2.09 million distinct points. This results in ultra-detailed, responsive feedback that allows drivers to feel even subtle road textures and the moment grip begins to fade—critical for racing on the limit.

3-Step Skewed Rotor Design– High-End Motor Engineering
The R12, R16, and R21 series from MOZA Racing have featured the 3-Step Skewed Rotor design since their initial release. This design divides the rotor into three staggered segments, an approach adapted from high-end electric vehicle motors.
By pioneering this technology in the sim racing space, MOZA has achieved quieter, smoother power delivery while effectively eliminating torque ripple, reducing cogging, and minimizing vibration.
This engineering solution continues to distinguish MOZA’s mid-to-high-end wheelbases by providing exceptionally precise force feedback with significantly less mechanical and audible noise, elevating the overall realism and driving fidelity.

Carbon Fibre-Wrapped Rotors – Consistent High-Performance
The R12, R16, and R21 continue to feature aerospace-grade carbon fibre sleeves around their rotors, offering several real-world performance benefits:

  • Eliminates electromagnetic interference and power loss from metal casings
  • Maintains strong magnetic fields under high torque
  • Enhances thermal stability during extended use
  • Prevents performance degradation in long sessions

With a strength-to-weight ratio five times greater than steel and significantly superior thermal properties, the carbon fiber casing ensures consistent output lap after lap.

Core Value: Better Racing for Everyone

What makes this update especially significant is its universal impact: every MOZA user benefits from the NexGen 4.0 FFB and enhanced Pit House software, while those with higher-end wheelbases receive additional hardware advancements.
Whether it’s immersive fun for casual racers or elite precision for competitive drivers, this release marks a thoughtful evolution in sim racing—raising the bar for realism, performance, and customization.
