Rennsport showed us in February that they’re determined to strengthen the project and fix their mistakes. This year promises to be important for the Germans, and one of the first major updates comes with one of the most iconic and popular tracks in sim racing history.
Circuit de la Sarthe
The Circuit de la Sarthe, known for its Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans variation, is located in Le Mans, Sarthe, France. This permanent auto sport circuit hosts the 24 Hours of Le Mans auto race and is widely known as the site of the 1955 Le Mans disaster—the most deadly event in motorsport history.
The track combines private race-specific sections with public roads used only during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which remain accessible most of the year. Its current 24-hour configuration is 13.626 km (8.467 mi) long, making it one of the longest circuits in the world. The permanent Bugatti Circuit has a capacity of 100,000 spectators. The Musée des 24 Heures du Mans motorsport museum is located at the main entrance.
Up to 85% of the 24-hour circuit lap time is spent at full throttle, putting immense stress on engine and drivetrain components. Additionally, the high speeds cause tremendous wear on brakes and suspension, as cars must slow from over 322 km/h (200 mph) to around 100 km/h (62 mph) for the sharp corner at the village of Mulsanne.
Le Mans will be the only track in this first DLC arriving this week—the first of many more updates to come.
