Porsche, Le Mans and Movies

It’s no secret that Porsche is an iconic brand in racing and top-level racing. Out of F1 for many years, it could be the new surprise in 2026 if the regulation negotiations manage to convince the Stuttgart-based company. For the moment, what we know is that in both IMSA and WEC they are very present with models desired and dreamed of by millions of fans all over the world.

Porsche has been increasing its image helped by the cinema and the love of some of its great protagonists for its models. First it was Steve McQueen doing his best to become a driver in the 60s and 70s and filming one of the timeless classics with the help of the brand. Both the documentary and the film are available on Amazon Prime Video.

In recent times we are enjoying two other stars, American and European, on their way to and through the most legendary endurance race on the planet. And they both do it in the hands of Porsche. Two series dedicated to Le Mans starring Patrick Dempsey and Michael Fassbender are available on streaming platforms. In them you can see much of the process that goes into the training and the day-to-day competitive life of amateur drivers who strive to fulfil their dreams behind the wheel.

From Patrick Dempsey we have his first year of preparation for his return to Le Mans in 2013. He would go on to finish runner-up in class in a 991 RSR in 2015.

Michael Fassbender’s current stint in the Porsche Supercup, the WEC and his path to Le Mans in 2022. Available on Youtube in 10-25 minute chapters.
