The racing simulator Project Motor Racing continues to evolve with the release of Update 1.7.0.0, a patch that introduces new content, major changes to driving physics, and improvements to the online competitive experience.

The update adds a historic vehicle from Australian motorsport — the Ford Falcon V8 2013 — alongside a comprehensive overhaul of the GT4 category, adjustments across multiple classes, a new License Points system for Ranked mode, and several technical optimizations aimed at refining the simulator’s overall performance.

Ford Falcon V8 2013: An Australian Icon Arrives as Free DLC

The headline addition in this update is the Ford Falcon V8 2013, one of the most iconic cars from the Australian Supercars championship.

The vehicle earned its place in motorsport history after winning the 2013 Bathurst 1000, marking the first victory for a factory-backed Ford team in decades at the legendary endurance race.

In Project Motor Racing, the Falcon V8 arrives as part of a brand-new category called Australian V8 (AUS V8). The car is available as free DLC, accessible through the Downloadable Content tab in the main menu or via each platform’s digital storefront.

According to the studio, the addition also serves as a gesture of appreciation to the community that has supported the simulator since its release.

Full GT4 Class Overhaul and New Tire Model

The technical centerpiece of the 1.7 update is a complete overhaul of the GT4 class, following the same philosophy previously applied to the GT3 class in Update 1.6.

The most significant change is the introduction of a new tire model, designed to more accurately simulate how load, temperature, and slip angle interact throughout a corner.

In practical terms, the goal is not to increase overall grip, but to deliver more progressive and usable grip while driving.

Key improvements include:

  • Clearer lateral load buildup on the front axle
  • A more progressive transition from grip
  • More consistent tire behavior across a lap once temperatures stabilize

Due to these changes, the developers warn that existing custom GT4 setups may no longer function correctly, and players are advised to review their setups or download updated configurations from the ModHub.

The class also received Balance of Performance (BoP) adjustments and recalibrated aerodynamic settings.

New License Points System for Ranked Online

Another major addition is the introduction of the License Points System in Ranked Online mode.

This system is designed to encourage cleaner and more disciplined racing, rewarding drivers who compete responsibly while penalizing aggressive behavior or repeated on-track incidents.

The goal is to strengthen the competitive integrity of the online ecosystem, a critical aspect for racing simulators where the quality of multiplayer competition plays a major role in the community experience.

Physics, Force Feedback, and Traction Control Adjustments

The update also brings several technical adjustments affecting multiple classes in the simulator.

Among the most notable changes are:

  • Rebalanced Force Feedback across N-GT, Sportscar 70, Group 5, LMDh, and GT4 classes
  • Revisions to Traction Control (TC) levels in GT3, GT4, and 992 Cup cars
  • Adjustments to the downshift prevention system, now allowing more aggressive downshifts
  • Improvements to GT3 wet tires, delivering better grip in rainy conditions
  • New default differential settings

Taken together, these changes aim to improve driving feel and vehicle responsiveness, particularly in high-limit situations.

Multiplayer, Track, and Stability Improvements

The patch also introduces a range of technical improvements throughout the simulator.

  • Integration of the License Points system in Ranked mode
  • New Pre-warm Tyres option for custom lobbies
  • Improved synchronization between lobby hosts and players to ensure consistent tire temperatures

Tracks

  • New flying advantage detection zones for the penalty system at Lexington, Northampton, and Zolder, preventing exploitative race starts
  • Visual improvements to the São Paulo circuit
  • Updated Armco barriers and collision detection at Nürburgring Nordschleife – Quiddelbacher Höhe

Fixes and Optimization

  • Fixed an issue that caused MoTeC systems to flicker in certain conditions
  • Resolved a PS5 bug that prevented vehicle setups from being deleted correctly
  • Improved driver animations

AI Improvements

Finally, the patch also introduces adjustments to the behavior of AI-controlled opponents.

Most notably, the pace of AI drivers in the LMDh class at 100% difficulty has been rebalanced based on community feedback.

In addition, the AI tire model has been adjusted so that peak grip builds more gradually, bringing its behavior closer to that experienced by human players.
