Qualcomm and Ferrari Sign Agreement

They pass us this note about the Ferrari and Qualcomm agreement. In theory it doesn’t have much to do with simracing (except for the eSports branch), but as Qualcomm makes chips for mobile devices and VR stuff, who knows what we could see derived from their F1 tools.

Qualcomm and Ferrari today announced a strategic agreement to develop the digital transformation of the car company. As such, Qualcomm will become the Snapdragon solution provider for Ferrari’s road cars, in addition to being a “Premium Partner” for the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team and Ferrari eSports.

  • As part of the agreement, Qualcomm Technologies and its partners will work with Ferrari on the design, development and integration of Ferrari’s digital cockpits to enable it to transform its vehicles for the digital age. Through its agreement, Qualcomm will equip Ferrari’s road vehicles with the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, which offers open, scalable and comprehensive automotive platforms spanning semiconductors, systems, software and services.
  • Qualcomm has also signed a “Premium Partnership” with the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team that will commence at the start of the upcoming 2022 FIA Formula 1™ World Championship racing season. The agreement will see Snapdragon branding featured prominently on Ferrari F1 driver and team suits during the 2022 season, as well as on several key points on Ferrari’s F1 cars.

Enrico Salvatori, senior vice president and president for Europe/MEA at Qualcomm Europe, Inc. said he is “proud to be working with such an iconic automaker as Ferrari”. “The Snapdragon Digital Chassis, offers open, scalable and complete automotive platforms spanning semiconductors, systems, software and services that will enable Ferrari to transform its vehicles for the digital age,” he added.
