Racing Unleashed: Spanish victory on the 5th raceday

Press note from Racing Unleashed about the 5th raceday where Alejandro Sanchez ends with the dominant season of the Michal Smidl. Everything was done on Assetto Corsa Ultimate .

The raceday of Czech’s superstar Michal Smidl started quite badly – he only came in 3rd today. At a turbulent start Smidls rival Alvaro Aznar first hit the grass and then crashed into the Czech’s car. So it’s the first race within two seasons that the Czech did not win when he was on the startlist. Alejandro Sanchez (ESP) took the win in the Racer League with a lead of more than ten seconds for which he earns 25 points in the season ranking and 2,500 Swiss francs in prize money. Swiss Dominik Dedic from Zurich came in second. The winner of the Challenger League was Javier Loro (ESP) followed by his compatriots David Cid on the 2nd place and Marcos Valverde who came in 3rd.

On Sunday, July 25, 2021, it was once again: “Ladies and gentlemen, start your racesimulators”: This time, the sim racers from Racing Unleashed raced on the virtual Red Bull Ring. The race track was founded as the Österreichring. The Austrian Grand Prix was held on this circuit from 1970 to 1987. It was later shortened, rebuilt and renamed. Formula 1 has been racing at the new Red Bull Ring since 2014. Qualifying was held as hot lapping within a 15min time window (the fastest lap counts), and the timed final was run for 30min (about 27 laps).

Behind the project are grandees from Formula 1: Monisha Kaltenborn (resident in Küsnacht ZH), ex-Sauber team boss in Formula 1, is CEO of Racing Unleashed.

The next race for the Racer and Challenger League drivers is on 29 August. Then the sixth of ten
competitions will start on the Silverstone circuit.
