The iconic French manufacturer will feature in the simulator’s next major content update, bringing three of its most emblematic single-seaters from its modern Formula 1 era: the R25, the R26, and the R28. For those of us who lived through that period, this is not just about new cars to drive. It is a chance to relive an era that shaped an entire generation of motorsport fans.

The undisputed star of this addition will be the Renault R25, the car that led the French manufacturer to claim both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships in 2005. That machine did not only break the dominance of the era’s ruling forces; it also made Fernando Alonso the youngest World Champion in history at that time.

A year later came the R26, tasked with defending both titles. Far from resting on its laurels, Renault dominated once again in 2006, cementing one of the most successful chapters in the team’s history at the top level of motorsport.

Two cars, two consecutive championships, and an indelible mark on the memories of millions of fans.

Although the R28 never reached the heights of its predecessors, it remains an important piece within Renault’s journey. The car took two victories during the 2008 season and symbolised Fernando Alonso’s return to the Enstone-based team after a brief stint away from the French outfit. Its inclusion adds variety and makes it possible to recreate a transitional period that also had its memorable moments in modern Formula 1.

This collaboration fits perfectly into the strategy Reiza Studios has been pursuing in recent years. The goal is clear: to expand the catalogue of historic vehicles with official licences and deliver experiences that are ever more faithful to different eras of motorsport.

Automobilista 2 already features a wide selection of single-seaters inspired by different generations of Formula 1, but the arrival of official Renault machinery adds an extra layer of authenticity that many players have been waiting a long time for.

The promotional images have left a small detail that has not gone unnoticed by the most attentive observers. One of them appears to show the reflection of another historic single-seater in the Renault’s mirror, which seems to suggest that further official licences could be on the way. There is no official confirmation yet as to which other cars might be coming to the simulator, but the hint has been enough to fuel speculation across the community.

Beyond the statistics, the victories, and the championships, this addition stands out because it connects directly with the nostalgia of many motorsport followers. The R25, the R26, and the R28 represent a time when Renault challenged the giants of the category and wrote some of the most memorable pages in contemporary Formula 1 history.

There is no concrete release date yet, but the anticipation is already building. And there are few things more appealing to a simulation enthusiast than climbing back behind the wheel of machines that defined an era.

See you on the track!
