RENNSPORT has acknowledged serious multiplayer connection problems following the release of its Hypercar Expansion Pack on October 23, 2026. Some players are experiencing unexpected disconnections during online races, with certain incidents also causing the game to crash. The developer has identified the cause and is preparing a client-side hotfix for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, although no release date has been confirmed.
In an official statement published on October 24, RENNSPORT explained that its backend and engine teams had isolated the problem to a communication error during the multiplayer session handshake. This process establishes the connection between the game client and the online servers. The error can cause a valid connection to be incorrectly rejected, resulting in players being unexpectedly removed from their races.
RENNSPORT Identifies the Cause of Multiplayer Disconnections
Although the issue involves communication with multiplayer servers, RENNSPORT confirmed that the underlying problem originates in the game client rather than its backend infrastructure. As a result, restarting the servers or applying a server-side adjustment will not resolve the problem. A new game update must be developed and distributed across all three supported platforms.
The situation comes at an unfortunate time for RENNSPORT. Update 1.2.18 introduced the Hypercar Expansion Pack, adding the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH, Lamborghini SC63, Toyota TR010 Hybrid and Genesis GMR-001. The accompanying free update also expanded Custom Contests from 12 to 24 drivers and increased maximum race durations from 30 to 60 minutes, making multiplayer improvements one of its main selling points.
While RENNSPORT has confirmed that multiple players are affected, the developer has not published figures showing how widespread the disconnection problem is. It has also not announced an official workaround for players experiencing the issue.
Multiplayer Hotfix Requires Console Certification
RENNSPORT is already working on a solution, but the developer has warned that the update cannot be deployed immediately. Once the code changes are completed, the new build must undergo internal quality assurance testing to verify that the connection issue has been resolved without introducing additional stability problems.
The hotfix must then pass the certification processes required by Sony and Microsoft. Because RENNSPORT supports cross-platform multiplayer between PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the developer intends to coordinate the update across all supported platforms.
RENNSPORT has confirmed that the fix will not be available on October 24. The studio considers resolving the issue its highest priority and plans to provide another update once the candidate build has passed internal testing and entered platform certification. A confirmed deployment window will be announced at that stage.
For now, players affected by unexpected disconnections will need to wait for the upcoming client update. The situation highlights the importance of multiplayer stability, particularly following an expansion specifically designed to support larger online grids and longer races.
Further information is available in RENNSPORT’s official multiplayer stability statement and the Hypercar Expansion Pack patch notes.
