The publishing landscape for RENNSPORT is set to change significantly in 2026. Starting March 1, the racing simulator will become fully self-published by its own development team on consoles, following the mutual termination of its publishing agreement with Nacon for RENNSPORT on PlayStation and Xbox.

The decision comes amid a complex situation: Nacon has declared insolvency, rendering the previously signed publishing contract for the game’s console release and distribution null and void.

End of the Agreement with Nacon: What Happened

The publishing agreement between RENNSPORT and Nacon has been officially terminated following the French company’s insolvency filing. Although both parties stated that the termination was mutual, the publisher’s financial circumstances accelerated the process and invalidated the existing contract covering PlayStation and Xbox.

The studio publicly thanked the Nacon team for their collaboration over the past year, highlighting their joint efforts in preparing the console ecosystem. However, the situation ultimately required a strategic shift in publishing plans to ensure the project’s continuity.

RENNSPORT Takes Full Control on Consoles

Effective March 1, the RENNSPORT team assumes full control of publishing rights on consoles. This means that all decisions related to distribution, updates, additional content, and the strategic roadmap will now fall directly under the studio’s supervision.

The transition to self-publishing will formally begin at the end of March. While this move broadly aligns with the plans previously presented at the game’s official Summit, the timeline may be adjusted to ensure a smooth transition without technical or commercial disruptions.

The studio has emphasized a key message: RENNSPORT is not disappearing from consoles, nor is it being abandoned. On the contrary, the shift is intended to strengthen creative and operational control over the product on PlayStation and Xbox.

A Strategic Shift with Long-Term Implications

The move toward self-publishing represents a significant step within the competitive racing simulation market. By removing the external publisher from the equation, RENNSPORT gains greater strategic independence—but also assumes increased financial and logistical responsibilities.
