RennSport – VR, Modding, Beta Launch Confirmed!

RennSport’s first gameplay has just been released, and I must say that it looks very promising. This title wants to be the next big thing in the racing simulation industry, bringing some pretty interesting features and claims like matchmaking and modding support.

RennSport’s Twitter page shared a 50-second video of a lap of the video uses content that we already know will be in the game, as it was shown last month, in this case Hockenheimring and the Porsche 911 GT3R.

Everything appears to be very promising. The graphics appear to be very well done, as they should be given that this game will be run on the Unreal Engine 5. This will be the first title of its kind to use this engine. Color reproduction is a little off. The sky is somewhat cloudy, which suggests that the color saturation will not be as high. The effects are not exaggerated; in fact, they appear to be reducing the camera effects that we are seeing.

There isn’t much bloom, vignetting, or other effects, so reproduction is very conservative, which is good for simulation racing.

We already knew about Hockenheimring, Porsche, and BMW, and the models appear to be very well done in this case. It’s difficult to predict what it will be; in my opinion, it appears to be in the realm of what a GT car should do, though the video cuts tactically in certain places just before hitting the edges aggressively, which is not done in the t1, making judging the handling after the edge bounce difficult. However, you can only say so much about handling in a 50-second video.

There are still unanswered questions about RennSport, such as what the content mix will be, whether it will follow a specific championship, what the tracks will be, what classes we will be able to drive, and, especially given the mention of modding, how the modding scene will interact with the all-important performance balance.

The next few days should see a flood of information on many RennSport points on their own Twitter page.

See you on the track!
