Review: Asetek Universal Footrest

Let’s dive into another review of an Asetek product. This time it’s something small but necessary: the footrest that completes their pedal lineup.

Years ago, I mentioned the need for a product like this to one of the local manufacturers. As usual, I was ignored, and later, when others released it, I watched everyone quickly jump on board.

This time we’re reviewing a simple accessory that’s been in their catalog for a while and completes the pedal lineup.

Packaging and Presentation

Very simple, because nothing more is needed in this case. A black cardboard box with the screws in a separate bag and the item itself. All good.

Tools and Customization

In this case, you’ll need one of the Allen keys included with the pedals. This universal footrest aims to overcome the customization limitations of the previous two, allowing many more mounting options. You’ll find multiple slots and height settings for screw placement.

Compatibility

It can be installed on all the brand’s pedals and theoretically on any pedals where needed. It’s typically mounted on one of the outer pedals—usually the throttle, since not all sets include three pedals.

Installation

It’s not hard, but it is a bit annoying. Removing the pedal plates to adjust the footrest, especially without fixed mounting points, is simple. Getting it positioned exactly how you want, so that the vertical limits of the pedal and footrest are parallel, is a bit trickier. Nothing to worry about though. You can check the video below.

Feel

Good—it helps position yourself correctly at all times. When installing, consider what type of footwear you’ll be using, as the width affects where most of your foot pressure falls on the pedal. If you set the limit flush with the pedal, you’ll be pushing from one side and may end up hurting yourself or feeling uncomfortable.

With that in mind, and properly installed, the footrest makes it easy to maintain a natural posture where both feet are comfortably in place—avoiding that floating sensation you sometimes get when this accessory is missing.

Conclusions

As you can see, it’s a simple accessory but, in my opinion, a necessary one. Few manufacturers include it by default, and it’s always an addition that improves comfort and safety when interacting with your simulated car.

You can buy it on their website or through the distributor Simufy for 35 euros.
