rFactor 2 Announces Long Beach Street Circuit

Since the start of 2023, we’ve had a few weeks of non-stop news about rFactor 2, as it seems that this year, Studio-397 is ramping up efforts to update the simulator’s content and physics.

The Long Beach circuit is one of the most iconic in the world of motorsport and is loved by almost everyone, drivers and fans alike. Featuring 11 wall-to-wall corners, the circuit promises unparalleled excitement for drivers and fans alike.

Long Beach is one of those tracks that is a perfect fit for any type of car, from tin-top to open wheel to long distance endurance,” explains Studio-397 on their blog, where you can also read descriptions of each corner of the circuit, as well as watch a short trailer on their YouTube channel.

They also tell us that the track has been created with the latest laser scan data, allowing it to be packed with detail and quality, making it the highest-quality track recently added to rFactor 2.

The Long Beach Grand Prix Street Circuit will be available for the simulator this February as part of the 2023 Q1 pack.

Another important point provided by the studio this week is that the ability to race against content you don’t already own is now available. We explained what this feature is in a previous article.

This feature is now available to all players with the latest release candidate of rFactor 2 on the Steam platform, although the official update launches on February 21.

Below, the studio provides highlights of this news:

  • Content you don’t already own can now be installed from the content manager.
  • In the content lists, cars and tracks you don’t own have been greyed out and a button has been added to access the shop page.
  • You can be a spectator at any race, even if you don’t own anything, as long as the content is installed.
  • You can only race with owned cars on tracks you own.
  • When you join a server, cars you do not own will be greyed out.
  • When swapping drivers, you can only ride as a passenger in cars you own, and should only be able to select cars you own.
  • Information about the content required to join the server has been added to the error page.
  • Entries with cars you do not own in the spectator pop-up window are greyed out.
  • The “Resume” button for tickets with cars you don’t own has been disabled.

See you on the track!
