The team from Studio397, developers of rFactor2 have published in social networks that Spa-Francorchamps, one of the most loved circuits by fans and drivers, will be officially in their simulator sometime this November. This is great news and we will finally be able to ride through the Ardennes forests in this simulator. We leave you below an extract about the circuit.
Designed in 1920 by Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem, the original circuit was 14,120 meters long, and ran along the region’s public roads. In 1978, the drawing was halved for safety reasons. A section of the permanent layout was added to link the upper and lower parts of the circuit. Over the years, the circuit’s layout was modified several times. In 2007, the fork of La Source has been moved out of the track, and the chicane of “La parada de bus” has been moved back, in order to build wider pits and lengthen the main straight, increasing the length of the track to 7 004 meters. The sections abandoned in 1978 are still used today on public roads, while alternative roads were built in 2003 for the sections in use, parallel to the original roads. The track follows a fast and winding route through the Ardennes that allows to overcome 330 km/h and presents interesting challenges to the drivers.
See you on the track!
