rFactor 2: Realistic tire developments in partnership with Goodyear Tyres!

We have a new announcement for rFactor 2 . They will have new tire developments in partnership with Goodyear Tyres. In their release statement, they communicate that rFactor2 intends to delve deeply into car physics in order to accurately portray many varied driving characteristics in the real world and race dynamics.

To do this, their software must perform an astonishing series of calculations for many aspects of the car, the road surface, environmental conditions and more in order to present an accurate and precise experience for the end user.

It is highlighted that at the Studio 397’s Dutch headquarters, they are no longer working on a standard set of tire behaviors across the spectrum of cars, but rather each tire set has been custom made to match its real-world counterparts in terms of behavior, construction, interaction with the car and surface, and its reaction to various situations and factors on the track.

To assist the physics team at Studio 397 in understanding the deep and complex construction and reactions of racing tires, the team has recently established a close collaboration with the world-renowned tire manufacturer Goodyear. Working closely with Goodyear to expand their own capabilities of virtual tire modeling, Studio 397 has benefited from exceptional collaboration and data and knowledge exchange, which has contributed to even further improving rFactor 2’s already advanced tire simulation model.

rFactor 2 continues to progress with our intention to improve both the detail and usability and visual fidelity of the simulation in the coming weeks, months, and years. This close collaboration with Goodyear is another important milestone in our development intentions and the benefits of this early collaboration are already bearing fruit with our latest iteration of the tire model, which will continue to be improved and refined in rFactor 2 as we progress with the rFactor 2 title.

See you on the track!
