SimRacers Who Have Jumped from Sim Racing to The Real World

The success stories of Lucas Ordoñez, Ricardo Sanchez and Jann Mardenborough are now far behind us and associated only with the now defunct GT Academy project. Nowadays, other opportunities arise for the new simracers who fight to earn a place in the real racing teams of the world of motorsport. A world so elitist and demanding that except for a few occasions it is far away.

James Baldwin

Winning the last WFG gave Baldwin the opportunity to race the British GT championship with one of the most important teams in a McLaren sponsored by Jenson Button. And he didn’t miss his chance to win several races and showcase his skills. James is looking to extend his activity by being the rising star of the BRDC British Drivers Club program.

Rudy Van Buren

He won the first WFG against other heavyweights of the scene and has been working for McLaren developing their simulators and combining his passion for simulation with more and more track appearances. Now we can see him racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup in Germany.

Sebastian Job

The 2020 CFSP champion achieved in 2017 through Project Cars 2 a full year in English Formula Ford. Unfortunately for him, adapting to H gears on the right (left in UK), learning to toe heel and little track time meant his best result was a sixth place. He tried again at the WFG but succumbed to James Baldwin.

Kevin Siggy

He was the winner of the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge and therefore enjoyed driving the Formula E cars in Valencia. He is a regular at high-level competitions and is sure to have more opportunities in the future.

Jimmy Broadbent

Perhaps the most famous simRacing streamer in the world, who among other things is one of the star announcers of GT Sport in English language. This year he has the opportunity to show all his good work for the Prague team, with which he has managed to ensure his participation throughout the year and with whom he had his first laps a few days ago.

Jaroslav Honzik and Nils Naujoks

The winners of the last competition organized by Lamborghini had the opportunity to make their dream come true for three days getting to know the brand’s facilities and driving several models of the Italian factory, including a Lamborghini Huracan ST Evo in Imola.

Jesus Sicilia

He was the winner of the Michelin Pilot experience, sponsored by MSI, which allowed him to get behind the wheel of an F3 car to do some laps at Jarama. Now he enjoys racing in Assetto Corsa Competizione while waiting for another more lasting opportunity.

Frederik Rasmussen

As champion of the last edition of the Formula E virtual championship, Frederik had the opportunity to test the Formula E at this year’s Valencia event and get behind the wheel of a race car for the first time.

Alejandro Sanchez, Marc Perez and Salva Talens

In the Christmas trophy of Jarama MSI put a Ligier JS2 R on track with a team formed by their best drivers and served as a test to show their skills. They got the pole position but had to retire from the lead due to a breakdown. Surely there will be more opportunities.

See you on the track!
