SIMRIG Belt Module Adds 30 kg Active Harness Feedback to Sim Racing

SIMRIG Belt Module

SIMRIG has opened public orders for its new Belt Module, an active harness system capable of delivering up to 30 kg of peak pulling force independently through each shoulder belt. Driven directly by vehicle telemetry, the system is designed to reproduce braking, acceleration, cornering, curbs, bumps and gear shifts through the driver’s body rather than relying entirely on steering wheel or motion feedback.

Known officially as the SIMRIG SBM, the system was revealed on October 1 before public ordering opened on October 8. It can operate as a standalone addition to a static simulator or alongside SIMRIG’s existing SR1, SR2 and SR3 motion platforms.

The key difference from a conventional passive racing harness is that the SBM actively changes belt tension while driving. Each shoulder strap is controlled independently, allowing the system to communicate not only how strong a force is but also the direction from which it originates.

Up to 30 kg Per Side With Independent Feedback

The SIMRIG Belt Module uses two independent linear actuators, each providing up to 30 kg of peak pulling force and 150 mm of linear travel. Rather than winding the belt around a rotating spool, the system pulls the harness through a direct linear mechanism.

Under heavy braking, for example, both shoulder belts can increase tension to simulate the driver’s body being pushed forward against the restraint. During cornering or when hitting a curb with one side of the car, the left and right belts can react differently to provide directional feedback.

SIMRIG has also developed an adjustable roller system behind the driver. Its purpose is to direct the shoulder belts predominantly rearward into the seat rather than simply pulling them downward, with the roller height and module angle adjustable to suit different seating positions and rigs.

Feedback is controlled through SIMRIG Control Center, which reads telemetry from the running simulator and drives the hardware at more than 100 updates per second. Profiles can be configured by game and car, with automatic profile switching and Auto-Tune functionality available through the same software.

The latest Control Center update also introduces dedicated belt-tensioner settings including smoothing, tension limits, rumble effects and guided belt-tension configuration. Motion hardware and the belt system can be paused independently when both are installed on the same simulator.

€1,650 Plus VAT With Harness Included

The SIMRIG Belt Module has a launch price of €1,650 plus VAT, with shipping included within mainland Europe. Final pricing therefore varies depending on local VAT; SIMRIG currently lists the system at €2,062.50 including Sweden’s 25% VAT.

The package includes the complete Belt Module, a black five-point harness, 120 W power supply, dedicated emergency stop, USB cable, mounting hardware and the tools required for installation. SIMRIG provides a three-year warranty.

Importantly, an existing SIMRIG motion system is not required. The SBM can be installed on a static rig as a standalone source of physical feedback, while owners of SIMRIG motion hardware can combine the two systems through the same Control Center software.

SIMRIG is also offering an SR3 and Belt Module package for users looking to combine chassis movement with active harness feedback. In that configuration, the motion system moves the driver’s seat and rig while the SBM independently applies forces through the harness, with both responding to the same game telemetry.

The SIMRIG SBM Belt Module is available to order now following the opening of public sales on October 8.
