Simucube Presents Active Pedal

One pedal to rule them all 😀 That’s the new proposal from Finnish guys at Simucube. The simracing branch from Granite Devices makes another bold move trying to revolutionize pedals environment.

The guys from Granite Device are pioneers in simracing, theirs is the first commercial DD as such in the same way that they were the first to integrate all the electronics in the chassis of the DD itself. This time they have dared to reinvent a component of our setup as important as the pedals.

And no, it has not been a surprise that Simucube released some pedals of their own production, it was a relatively logical step that completes their simracer hardware portfolio. The surprise was to learn that these pedals, or rather, pedal in singular, are able to respond to ABS and RPM inputs through a force feedback system.

As you can see in the image, the rear swingarm of the pedal is mounted on a linear axis which in turn is moved by a motor connected to the software that controls everything. In this way we get the movement that for example is produced when the ABS is activated, fast and short movements forward and backward.

We mentioned that what we will really have is not the typical set of three pedals (accelerator, brake, clutch). Simucube through the use of the software will allow us to select which function we want to assign to each pedal, so that the components of each pedal are the same because in fact it is the same pedal. The adjustment of travel, sensitivity, brake hardness, different points of bite in the clutch and other adjustments will be made electronically as this active pedal has no springs or elastomers. As we are assured in this Active Pedal will not require any maintenance or replacement of components due to wear.

We know a little more about the possible price. Pre-booking will begin in December, at which time we will also know the price. Given the level of quality of the brand and the technology used in this pedal, everything indicates that the price will be clearly above 1,000€ for a complete set. The first units are expected to start arriving in the first months of 2023.

We will keep you informed as soon as more information comes to light and we hope to be one of the lucky few who have the chance to try them in first person.
