Sony Pictures has revealed the first teaser for the Gran Turismo movie, which is expected to be a faithful adaptation of the popular PlayStation racing game. The movie will follow the real-life story of Jann Mardenborough, a professional racer who began his career at the GT Academy, and will be played by actor Archie Madekwe.
This is not the only project by Sony Pictures based on one of its most popular gaming franchises. The company is also developing the The Last of Us series for HBO Max, which will premiere on January 15th.
This is exciting news for gaming fans, as these movie and television projects often provide a greater immersion into the world and characters of their favorite games.
The film will be directed by Neill Blomkamp, famous for his work on District 9 and Elysium, and will also feature performances by Orlando Bloom and David Harbour.
The Gran Turismo movie will be released exclusively in theaters on August 11th of this year.
