You may be familiar with the name Ian Bell, as he was the man behind Project CARS. Recently, you may have read that a new simulator is in development by him and his new studio, Straight4.
The studio has only recently started revealing information, but you can find news on their new blog that tells us some of the details about the development process, which they promise to update on a monthly basis.
The first blog post includes two separate interviews with members of the development team for the upcoming title, GTR Revival.
The first key point of the interview is the return of Henrik Roos to the studio. Thanks to his experience as a professional driver in the FIA GT Series, he serves as the driving consultant for the studio. He talks about his role in the studio, saying,
“My experience is in understanding what a race car feels like and how to translate that to simulation. The feel of a simulation is the most important thing. Of course, the graphics will be amazing with the Unreal 5 engine. Imagine what it would be like with this new generation of physics and graphics engine.”
AJ Weber, the director of physics at Straight4, will be creating a physics engine from scratch for GTR Revival. AJ has a proven track record, having worked in the physics departments of video games such as Project CARS 1 and Project CARS 2, as well as Fast & Furious: Crossroads.
On Straight4‘s official blog, they go into depth about how the physics engine will be presented, its models, and what realism will represent in GTR Revival.
You can read the full article on Straight4’s official website.”
