Last week, Rennsport brought together a large number of industry journalists in Munich to present several initiatives aimed at increasing its market share. As of today, the sim has only a very small community, and the developer is looking to change that.
We’ve distilled RENNSPORT down into four main categories that define how we are looking at RENNSPORT for the upcoming year;
- DRIVING EXPERIENCE
- RACING EXPERIENCE
- GAMING EXPERIENCE
- GENERAL EXPERIENCE
These staples will guide us throughout 2026 and more details how we expand each will be shared during the year.
Together with that, our main goal for 2026 is simple;
DOUBLE THE CONTENT – HALF THE PRICE

- More content (Cars, Tracks, Features)
- Monthly content updates
- Free updates (Only requires Standard Edition)
- Deluxe Edition price is reduced by -45%
- Deluxe Edition contains ALL paid content packs until September 2026
- Current Deluxe Edition owners will be compensated with in-game items
- Standard Edition price remains unchanged
THE RENNSPORT PATH
- Provide an entry point, no matter the preference of the driver
- Climb to semi-pro via official series and maker cups
- Enter R1 and drive against professional teams, either alone or with teammates
As a first step towards achieving this goal, the RENNSPORT Summit 2026 R1 competition already saw a RENNSPORT Community Team, consisting of two of the fastest drivers we have seen within our community – Nico Nünninghoff and Maximilian Dehn, competing against professional esports teams.
CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE
To give reasons coming back to RENNSPORT, even for casual, low-stakes races against AI, we’ve revamped Championship mode with a smoother flow and new leaderboards. These track your global ranking in individual championships and across entire seasons, adding deeper progression and endless replayability.
New Championships will be added with content additions to the game, increasing the things to do.
REWORKING AI
Our AI drivers are still under heavy development and were not yet ready in time for the Summit. As such, we were not able to offer the chance of playing around with it directly yet. To explain our situation and plans however, we had invited our Lead Gameplay Programmer Rikard Häggström to join us via a video call, during which he showed an in-editor recording of the current state of our AI drivers, including visual elements to demonstrate their current thought processes, and shed some light on the challenges we are currently working on.
- Smarter situational awareness, allowing AI drivers to anticipate traffic, defend intelligently and execute overtakes more realistically
- Adjustable AI opponent difficulty to allow for more enjoyable competition on track
- Simulated real human drivers by restricting input options to match user-facing options (Throttle, Brake, Steering – without heavy “cheating” mechanisms)
MODDING
Our Senior Lead Technical Artist Joel Szlema explained our plans for Modding, and what this will look like in 2026. Out of the 3 categories (Cars, Tracks, Gameplay) for Modding, the first version of our Modding support will focus on tracks, giving modders the option of adding their own creations to the world of RENNSPORT through an in-game asset store / manager.
- Built on Unreal Engine 5, as a robust and production-proven foundation for track creation
- Combines Unreal Engine 5’s native toolset and RENNSPORT’s in-house development tools
- Designed to be open, extensible, and powerful
More information on how to participate will be provided soon.
