Super Woden Rally Edge Receives PC Update With Custom Livery Support

Super Woden Rally Edge

Super Woden Rally Edge has received a new PC update introducing one of the most requested features from its community: custom car liveries. The addition significantly expands visual customization options without relying on external mods or complex in-game tools.

Developed by a solo creator, the game has stood out since launch for delivering a demanding arcade driving experience inspired by several decades of classic rallying, featuring fictional vehicles that closely resemble real-world motorsport icons. With this update, the title takes another step toward creative freedom, strengthening its appeal among dedicated players.

A simple and accessible system with no mods required

Unlike many games in the genre, Super Woden Rally Edge does not include a built-in livery editor. Instead, the system relies on an existing file structure within the game installation, allowing players to modify car textures directly.

Each vehicle includes a template.png file that serves as a visual guide, showing how different parts of the car are mapped. Using this template, players can design their own liveries in any image editing software that supports layers, such as Photoshop, Paint.NET, or GIMP.

This approach lowers the technical barrier for customization and avoids third-party dependencies, a design choice that aligns well with the game’s straightforward and community-friendly philosophy.

Folder structure and how custom liveries work

Custom liveries are managed through the following directory:

Super Woden Rally Edge_Data / StreamingAssets / CAR_SKINS

Within this folder, files are organized by manufacturer and then by individual car models. Each model folder contains the template.png file, along with reference images of the default in-game liveries.

To add a custom design, the finished image must be saved as a PNG file in the same vehicle folder and named numerically, starting with 0.png. Multiple liveries can be added for the same car by continuing the numbering sequence.

It is worth noting that the included default liveries are provided for reference only. Editing these files will not alter the textures used by the game.

Instant application and easy restoration

Once a custom livery is created, restarting the game is not required. Players simply need to reselect the livery from the in-game menu, and the updated texture will appear immediately.

Reverting to the original design is just as simple. Deleting the custom PNG files automatically restores the default livery, making experimentation fast and risk-free.

This behavior reinforces the system’s focus on flexibility, encouraging players to test multiple designs without permanently modifying the game’s assets.

A meaningful addition for the creative community

The introduction of custom liveries further solidifies Super Woden Rally Edge as a project closely aligned with its player base. This update strengthens its position by expanding creative possibilities without compromising its arcade-focused driving model.

With a console release planned for later this year, features like this help define the game’s identity and long-term potential, particularly among players who enjoy visually reimagining rally-inspired cars.
