A note on the Ferrari Esports Series competition as it approaches its new phase today.
The 2022 season of the Ferrari Velas Esports Series is about to enter a key moment of competition as the current edition of the famous virtual motorsport championship enters the home stretch of intense competitive activity. On 6 September at 21:00 CEST drivers from the European section of the series will take to the virtual recreations of the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, Circuit of the Americas, Spa-Francorchamps and the Indianapolis Grand Prix circuit to compete for the chance to enter the next stage of the championship and, with it, the chance to go all the way to the Grand Final in Italy where there is only one prize and that is for the winner.
For drivers and fans of the Ferrari Velas Esports Series, the second qualifying show has an additional important interest thanks to the introduction of two highly anticipated new circuits, as the series wants to take advantage of the much-loved circuits of the Americas and the Indianapolis Grand Prix that have recently been included in Assetto Corsa Competizione, one of the two simulation platforms developed by Kunos Simulazione that are used in the 2022 championship.
Adding Assetto Corsa Competizione for the current campaign to the Assetto Corsa software already in use has proved to be an entirely wise decision that has garnered positive feedback from participants, new fans of the series and long-time fans alike.
To make the spectacle of the European Qualifying Race even better, on 6 September the Ferrari Velas Esports Series will welcome a number of special guests throughout the event, starting with the emerging talent of the first female driver of the Ferrari Driver Academy, Italian F4 Chapionship, driver Maya Weug. Maya will join series presenters Nicki Shield and Paul Jeffrey in the Ferrari Esports Studio in Italy, providing insight and analysis into the world of motor racing in the real and virtual world.
Following the European show, on Wednesday 7 September at 21:00 EDT, the Ferrari Velas Esport Series will broadcast a new installment of the North American qualifying race show, a new initiative created for the 2022 racing season.
Similar in format to the preceding European broadcast, the North American show will feature another Ferrari Driver Academy star: European Formula Regional championship leader Dino Beganovic will join hosts Amanda Busick and Paul Jeffrey at the Ferrari Esports Studio in Italy. Following the same format of four separate races on four unique laser-scanned circuits as Assetto Corsa Ultimate and Assetto Corsa Competizione, this broadcast will be the last chance for the North American drivers to secure a place in their own Regional Final event, before the combined spectacle of the Grand Final show.
Both the European and North American drivers will be using the impressive Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 and Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo cars during the broadcast of this qualifying race.
As is traditional for the Ferrari Velas Esports Series, the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team will be represented on both the European and North American broadcasts with an exclusive interview with Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc presented by Paul Jeffrey (on the European show) and Amanda Busick (on the North American show), which will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the evening.
At the end of the respective broadcasts, only the best virtual drivers will have earned the right to qualify for the next stage of the competition – the Regional Finals – which will take place for Europe on 13 September at 21:00 CEST and for North America on 14 September at 21:00 EDT. At the Regional Finals, the top 24 drivers from each region will compete on the two simulation platforms – Assetto Corsa Ultimate and Assetto Corsa Competizione – for a chance to win a spot to compete in the Grand Final, which will be broadcast on Sunday, October 2 at 21:00 CEST.
The tracks for the regional finals have already been chosen: for the European races, Silverstone and Imola will be the protagonists, while for North America the tracks chosen are Laguna Seca and Watkins Glen. Both finals shows will feature guest stars such as Ferrari F1 drivers and Grand Prix winners Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
After overcoming a series of tough challenges with stiff competition, the overall champion of the Ferrari Velas Esports Series will have earned the opportunity to join the Scuderia Ferrari Velas Esports team.
Live streams of the qualifying races and regional finals will be available on the Official Twitch channel and will be hosted by Nicki Shields for Europe and Amanda Busick for North America, with Paul Jeffrey as co-host.
All competitions will be streamed live on the Ferrari Esports Twitch Channel at https://www.twitch.tv/ferrariesports.
