Ten years has gone by since this service introduced stewards and sporting code for the races. It was a new development then and it is a rare case still today. Until then if we want to race a clean and honest race we must find a community, with committed people who attend and provided an strong level where everybody could find their own challenges and where the rules were so strict than no one surpassed them fearing to be banned from the community.
People who didn’t knew about those times hardly understand what level of enjoyment and luxury is being able to race with people from all over the world at different hours and combinations without being afraid of crazy guys ruining everything at the turn 1, mostly, in every race.
Here now, the problem it is more or less solved, there are still many racers where some stupid guys try to win the race in turn 1, or even before, but we already saw what happened in F1-Spa this week.
With these background information and being completely conscious about racing incidents happen every time to anybody without exception, many buddies seem to have forgotten what we are doing here, having fun.
Some of them have arrived expecting a wonderful and outstanding esports career with a potential financial success. Sorry to say until today, there is no chance of making living from simracing, unless you win a real racing related position. But returning to the main subject, we, as consumers of an expensive product and hobby tend to forget we are only a bunch of guys which have to share sessions and races. Once, twice or several times we race against each others, like drivers in V8, F1, or DTM championship, and as I said, incidents happen. Sometimes there is a guy who blame undoubtedly, but many others blame has to be shared. Even with a no doubt situation, as hitting from behind, people tend to argue and trash talking (“that’s racing” thing) without knowing rules or worse, misunderstandings rules, and this can derivate in a unpleasant conversation.
Probably you will have to race with that person in a near future. Probably you don’t want to put your attention on someone instead every other detail ion the track. So, when you have an incident, please, think about it twice, even if you feel you have the reason to blame others, maybe it is time to say sorry, to calm things, to stay friendly, as you probably would in the real life.
Now the race is over, there is no reason to fight, to keep racing outside the track, so leave behind your ego and please, don’t pollute this exceptional and small community with a wrong attitude.
