The release of Assetto Corsa EVO has not affected Assetto Corsa

The Early Access launch of  Assetto Corsa EVO has generated significant buzz within the sim racing community. However, recent statistics suggest that the original Assetto Corsa remains firmly rooted in its position.

Despite the release of the much-anticipated Early Access, Steam data shows that Assetto Corsa not only retained its player base but even saw a slight increase: the Thursday before the launch recorded 15,938 players, while the Thursday of the launch rose to 16,134.

This challenges the predictions of some enthusiasts who assumed Assetto Corsa EVO would immediately overshadow its predecessor on day one. Clearly, an Early Access product cannot yet compete with a fully polished and refined title like Assetto Corsa and the mod community, which has had years to perfect itself and build a dedicated community.

While it promises to be a significant step forward for fans of the genre, it is still in development. This means many players will continue to enjoy the stability, content, and extensive mods available in the original title.

It will be interesting to see how future updates and improvements to Assetto Corsa EVO influence its reception and its impact on the longevity of Assetto Corsa. For now, it’s clear that both titles can coexist—at least until EVO reaches its full potential.

  1. Those numbers aren’t going to budge until there’s online play and I would look for other games to lose to Evo until them
