Tokyo Game Show 2026 has cancelled its final day on Monday, September 21, due to the approaching Typhoon No. 25. The decision cuts short an event that has featured several important sim racing hardware displays, including MOZA’s first PlayStation 5 Direct Drive systems and new Fanatec hardware. Sunday, September 20, is currently scheduled to proceed as planned.
Tokyo Game Show organizer CESA announced the cancellation on September 19 after forecasts indicated stronger wind and rain from Monday afternoon. The organization cited possible disruption to public transport and difficulties for visitors, exhibitors and staff returning home, with safety taking priority over keeping the venue open.
TGS 2026 had originally been scheduled to run from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe. According to Japanese coverage of the announcement, this is the first time in the event’s 30-year history that a day has been cancelled while Tokyo Game Show is already underway.
For sim racing visitors, Sunday, September 20 now becomes the final physical day of Tokyo Game Show 2026.
MOZA has been using TGS to publicly demonstrate its first officially licensed PlayStation 5 Direct Drive hardware, including the R5S Pro Racing Simulator and R16S Ultra Racing Simulator. The company has also been showing its wider racing hardware lineup at the event.
Fanatec is another major sim racing exhibitor, with Formula, GT and desktop simulator configurations available at its booth. Its TGS presence also includes the Podium Pedals Formula and hardware that remains in development.
The cancellation does not change any product specifications, pricing or release information already announced by the manufacturers. However, anyone planning to visit the show specifically to test the new sim racing hardware will now need to do so on Sunday rather than Monday.
CESA says some stage events originally scheduled for September 21 could still be converted into official online broadcasts, depending on conditions at the venue. Details on which programs will move online and their revised schedules will be announced through the official Tokyo Game Show website and social channels.
Tickets purchased for the cancelled September 21 session will also be refunded.
For now, Tokyo Game Show 2026 continues on Sunday, September 20 as scheduled, making it the final opportunity for attendees to see and test this year’s sim racing hardware in person before the show closes a day earlier than planned.
