Thanks to the partnership between iRacing and NASCAR, iRacing will bring to its simulator a street circuit located in Chicago, more specifically in Grant Park. This is a test for NASCAR where they will evaluate the possibility of doing a real race in that circuit depending on how the races develop in its virtual version.
It is clear that the work being done by iRacing and NASCAR continues to grow. Let’s remember that this week an official NASCAR event was held in iRacing where real drivers competed in the virtual version of Bristol Dirt as a preamble to what will be the real race this weekend.
The Chicago track was scanned last fall and will be released on June 2 (or sooner) as a new NASCAR Pro Invitational race will be run on the new street circuit on that date. If this track is ever run in real life, it will be an unprecedented race, as NASCAR’s fastest category has never raced on any street circuit.
We leave you with an on-board video of the track posted on NASCAR’s Twitter account.
