In the notes published in various media, we see that two familiar faces have been spotted at the filming that is taking place in Hungary. Djimon Hounsou and Geri Halliwell are the latest to travel to Hungary to follow the filming of the saga-inspired movie, which has a release date of 11 August 2023.
Neither of the two will have a pilot role, although both are connected to the world of cars. Halliwell is a regular at F1 weekends as the wife of Christian Horner, head of the Red Bull Racing team. She was also a member of the Spice Girls, so she is well known in the Anglo-Saxon market. Hounsou is known for several roles, the most motoring-related of which is that of Mose Jakande in Furious 7.
Three other regular TV and film actors have also been brought in to play other roles that we are not sure about. We will keep you informed of all of this in the near future, but for now we remind you of what we have already published.
If we first thought the film was going to be a sort of documentary about Jann Mardenborough’s career from his early days to his exploits with Nissan after winning the GT Academy, it looks like it will be a conventional fictional film. Now, knowing that, it makes more sense that the chosen director will be Neill Blomkamp, the well-known director of Chappy, District 9 and Elysium. This week, some of the leading roles have been announced, and they belong to various actors, some of whom I’m sure you’re familiar with.
Orlando Bloom is the latest to be announced, with the famed actor appearing as a possible villain as a marketing executive who sells motorsports. He is joined in the lead role by Archie Madekwe, who will presumably take on the role of Jann. David Harbour will appear as a retired racer while the story is scripted by Zach Baylin and Jason Hall.
