Fanatec Recommended Settings for Gran Turismo 7

It is a fact that Fanatec is taking over a large part of the user base that buys steering wheel and pedals for Gran Turismo 7. It has products that if they fall into your budget range, right now are hard to beat. Maybe only the low end remains safe with the iconic models from Thrustmaster and Logitech because from 400 euros the new GT DD PRO and the Podium F1 PS4 seems a must buy.

Here are the configurations recommended by Fanatec for their bases in Gran Turismo 7.

General notes:

  • The settings below are considered reasonable benchmark values for Gran Turismo 7. They may not suit all tastes and driving styles, but they are a good starting point. Please note that Gran Turismo 7 uses a dynamic physics engine that covers a wide range of cars and tracks, which means that these settings may not be “optimal” for all possible driving scenarios.
  • In order to correctly apply the suggested settings, it is important to assign both the values in the settings menu and the suggested settings in the game
  • These settings assume that you have updated all firmware from the latest Fanatec driver package (available on the Fanatec website home page).
  • If you cannot access all of the settings shown below, you are probably in the Standard Setting Menu. To switch to the Advanced Tuning Menu, first enter the menu (short press the Tuning button once), then press and hold the Tuning button for about four seconds.
  • You may see additional settings in the Tuning menu depending on the connected devices. These additional settings are not relevant to the FFB, and are not listed here.
  • The settings for the Gran Turismo DD Pro are suitable for 5 Nm and 8 Nm (Boost Kit 180).
  • The settings for Podium F1 PS4 assume that you are in high torque mode. In low torque mode, the same settings can be used, but with a higher FF value.
  • If you want a heavier feel in your Gran Turismo DD Pro or Podium Racing Wheel F1, you can use higher NDP and NFR values. Higher values can also help reduce steering oscillation in some cars. But be aware that higher values reduce the rotation speed and may reduce fine details.
  • Gran Turismo 7 has an understeer vibration effect that can generate some mechanical noise, especially with the CSL Elite Wheel Base + (due to the belt drive). This can be reduced by lowering the FEI value, but we recommend keeping it as high as possible to preserve other areas of force feedback detail.

And here is another suggestion from a GT Planet user for the GT DD PRO at 8Nm:

With these settings, the steering wheel may appear much lighter compared to the default settings. This is to be expected. We are not struggling while driving the car.

I have tested these settings mainly on Nordschleife in Gran Turismo 7. You can have a lot of fun using the standard Huracán LP610 with the Sports Hard tires instead of the Race tires and with traction control 0 and stability control off. Try drifting into some corners and recovering from drifts and you’ll feel it.

These settings don’t guarantee better lap times, but to me more real is more fun, and that’s what it’s all about.

I hope you enjoy it.
