Formula E Gen3 DLC Now Available for rFactor 2

rFactor 2 has a tradition of releasing its updates on a quarterly basis, and as we’re already in the second quarter of 2023, it’s time to start thinking about what these new updates will bring.

The latest update to rFactor 2 has made it the first simulator to include the Formula E Gen3 competition, which is comprised entirely of electric vehicles. This addition is available for rFactor 2 on the Steam store for €4.99 if you’re only interested in the vehicle or €25 if you want the pack that includes all six circuits, as well as the two previous generations. Check out the trailer below:

In addition to the Formula E Gen3 vehicle, Studio-397 has provided specifications for this new generation of car. “The Gen3 features more power and longevity than its predecessors, making it the fastest Formula E car to date with a top speed of over 322 km/h. The new design also boasts energy efficiency of around 95% thanks to an electric motor that provides up to 350 kW of power, equivalent to 470 horsepower, compared to approximately 40% for an internal combustion engine.”

If you’re interested in testing out this new addition to rFactor 2, there’s an event available.

Formula E Gen3 Accelerate Championship

In each round, driving the official third-generation Formula E vehicle, there will be an open qualifying session to determine the top 88 drivers for the qualifying races. These races will be the second stage of qualifying in rounds, consisting of 3 races. Only 22 drivers will qualify for the final event.

Each round will have 1 race after qualifying to determine the grid order. The top 11 drivers from the Berlin and Rome events will be directly invited to the London finals, which will be held in person at the London ExCeL, home of the London E-Prix on July 29.

The final will be broadcast live on the Formula E YouTube channel, and the prize money will be split between €10,000 for each of the two rounds and the London final, plus an additional €10,000 divided based on the overall standings.

You can register for this competition by clicking HERE (only for residents of Europe over the age of 16). You can purchase the official Formula E Gen3 car on Steam, as well as the Formula E Pack.

rFactor 2 ‘s latest update has brought the Formula E Gen3 competition to life in the virtual world. With an impressive top speed of over 322 km/h and energy efficiency of around 95%, the Gen3 car is truly a marvel of electric vehicle engineering. Studio-397 has also provided players with an exciting opportunity to participate in the Formula E Gen3 Accelerate Championship, with a chance to win a portion of the €30,000 prize money.
