Greg Hill, Senior VP and executive producer of iRacing, has published a tweet in which it is possible to appreciate the progress being made in the development of rain in iRacing. In it, we can see two Formula Vee fighting under the rain that has just fallen on the Imola circuit.
As we can see, the rain is not noticeable in the environment, as it has already stopped and only the gray sky can be seen. The track, however, is very very wet, where you can even see huge puddles at some points of the track. It is worth mentioning the realistic reflection of the puddles, which makes us think that it is at full graphic options.
Also, we can appreciate the spray that these cars give off, that being such basic Formula cars, they give off a large amount of spray behind them. In the same way, it makes us think that with the Formula 1 on a track in the same conditions, it must leave a huge spray annoying the visibility of those who come behind.
In addition, we can see the level of detail that the asphalt has in these conditions, something that in other circuits is not appreciated with such detailed textures. Maybe they will give a touch up to this section when they release the rain to make it look as realistic as it looks in the image.
We still don’t know when the rain will arrive, but we are sure it will arrive this year seeing all the progress they have graphically. Now, behind that there is a lot of development to be done in parallel like the behavior of the tires, how the water drains from the track, the physics and so on. So it makes us still doubt that it will arrive in the next season.
But who knows, maybe iRacing has a surprise for us.
