Over Jump Rally: The Sega Rally Clone That We Need

Many of you may not be familiar with it, but Sega is a major part of video game history. Back in the mid-90s, Nintendo and Sega were competing for the throne of a rapidly growing industry. Meanwhile, Sony was preparing for its triumphant entry into the console market, but in the arcades, Sega Rally was the star title.

Sega Rally was the first game of an arcade saga that also extended to PC and consoles with less success. However, in the arcades specifically, the first installment was an incredible title for its time, shaking the industry’s foundations and revolutionizing the gaming halls with its frame rate and graphics.

In a few months, we’ll have the chance to experience it directly on our computers if this Japanese recreation made in Unreal Engine 5 delivers everything it promises. It seems tailor-made for the nostalgics, and we can only hope that the handling resembles that hypnotic flow of cars over gravel that we have idealized in our memories.

DRIFT LIKE IT’S 1995
Put your helmet on, fist-bump your co-pilot, and get ready to drive flat out for another lap in the legendary Forest stage!
Challenge yourself to improve your best times or just take a walk around the Yosemite Pioneer History Center, where the event takes place… you might find some familiar faces!

CAUTION! Nostalgia overload!

WHAT’S THIS PROJECT ABOUT:
Over Jump is an independent and unofficial tribute to Sega Rally Championship, the glorious arcade racing game from 1994. The idea is to recreate it using Unreal Engine 5: refreshing the graphics to today’s standards while keeping the same arcade driving style.

This game is a proof-of-concept hoping to get Sega’s approval.

Please spread the word and wishlist it: every number counts to get green-lit!
