Red Bull’s simulator could be key

Sitting in that simulator is someone who knows a ton about simRacing – Rudy van Buren, a name we’ve mentioned here before. Just the other day, motorsport.com published an interview with Rudy, detailing his work at Red Bull. So, let me give you a quick intro and summary of what was said.

Rudy van Buren is a simRacer who made a name for himself in the first WFG organized by McLaren and Logitech . The competition was fierce, with legendary rivals like Greger Huttu. But Rudy stood out, winning the judges over and earning a year of simulator testing for the British brand. He worked closely with the team’s engineers to help develop their cars.

Since then, Rudy has moved from McLaren to Red Bull, where he’s responsible for translating simulator tests into real-world performance. He’s constantly refining and tweaking things, doing his best to make sure Verstappen and Pérez are as prepared as possible for each race. He’s a master at reducing variables and pinpointing the most important aspects of the car’s performance.

Of course, Rudy would love to work with the real car as well, but for now, that’s not possible. Still, he’s made a name for himself in the simRacing world, competing in various championships and special events (especially rFactor 2 ).

See you on the track!
