The Top 6 Essential Accessories for Sim Racing

Today, we’re looking at the most essential accessories to make our driving sessions much more comfortable. Having everything at hand can be a challenge, but with these, we’ll have it almost completely under control. Let’s see what we need to consider.

Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

In the cockpit, we need freedom, and nothing beats being able to type and use the mouse on any surface. In this case, we have two Logitech options (K400 and MK220), one with everything included in the same device, though a bit bulkier to use, and another traditional one that is very compact. Both are priced at less than 35 euros.

Gloves

There are supporters on both sides, but with the increasingly extreme forces of Direct Drive, and just like in reality, we need to have a grip on our wheels. We’ve already dedicated a complete article to gloves and various available options. Right now, I’ve found these simple yet possibly functional Alpinestars gloves for less than 30 euros.

Boots

Lately, we haven’t talked much about footwear, as it seems that the trend among pro experts is to go back to socks even when using very hard pedals. Personally, I don’t understand why, or maybe it’s because my foot is different from theirs. I prefer footwear for simulation, just as I would in a kart, a car, or a competition vehicle. For this, Sparco offers simRacing footwear like the Hyperdrive, and other brands can serve in the karting sector. There are also offers at Asetek until Christmas. Starting from 70 euros, you will find many options from OMP, Alpinestars, and more.

Cushions and Headrests

More elements related to comfort, specifically for our posterior, back, and neck. We have various types of cushions for our seat to accommodate our posture and endure hours in racing sessions.

Headphones

Audio headsets with microphones, wireless, bulkier, with batteries, etc. There are hundreds of brands to choose from and different models with various specifications covering a wide price range. For example, we can mention these SteelSeries Arctis 1, which are compatible with consoles and priced at 89 euros. Another classic option is the Logitech G733 for 109 euros.

Cameras

Almost the same as the previous section. There are thousands of options at various price points, but we can refer to a classic brand and its options in different price ranges. This Logitech StreamCam should be more than enough to cover some of your visual needs.

  • How is a camera an essential accessory in sim racing? Is there anyone left not trying to be an "influencer"? Before you ask I've been sim racing for nearly 15 years and have bought most gadgets imaginable... Never considered buying a camera. Lol

      • Hahahahahahaha.... The world will be a far better place for not witnessing my pitiful race craft
If there is one thing I have learnt over the years is that I made the right decision to not persue a racing career.
