Ubisoft removes The Crew from the gamer’s library

A few months ago we were talking about the end of GT Sport and the features lost at the end of the servers. Games increasingly require more online features, and GT Sport was one of the first to lose part of its essence with these shutdowns.

With The Crew, something more radical has happened, as unlike Polyphony Digital with GT Sport, Ubisoft not only did not remove the game’s online features at the server closure on March 31, but also ended up removing the game from players’ libraries.

Obviously, this is a further, rather ugly and aggressive step by the company. In this way, it’s as if that purchase and that period of play had never taken place, leading many buyers to request a refund, and they may have a legal basis for it.

We’ll see what happens, since like everything we acquire digitally, we are hardly aware of what we really acquire. Less and less ownership, and much more just its use.
