I still see many times the same kind of questions so I will try to clarify how is the basic content in iRacing today and what can be run and what not.
Signing up for iRacing is simple and really cheap, there are codes for a month or 3 month trial for just a few dollars, anyway if you like what you see on YouTube videos, Twitch or what your friends say, try to take advantage of the 50% discount for new members. All you need is a credit or debit card or a Paypal account and it’s totally safe.
The basic content consists of 16 cars of which only 7 or 8 are used in official series. The other 6 or 7 come from obsolete content although they are updated and receive certain global improvements from time to time.

The tracks also comes well-stocked with 16 tracks between oval and road tracks allowing for up to 29 different configurations. More than enough to get you through the first few months without spending a penny too much. For example:
What can you race with this content?
Well, iRacing has it well thought with the Rookies championships where the 12 weeks is used only basic content so you can use these vehicles in these circuits and enjoy or curse the Rookies classes.
Right now there are 6 series available, 3 official ones, to race with these cars every week, while in more advanced classes they also have some basic content combining more paid circuits, which will allow you to run the week that coincides with what you have in possession.
There is nothing to unlock or add as you go along, just the classes you can run as your track safety rating improves. More security, more possibility of running high classes.
The current estimate after the change in the fee policy and the disappearance of some offers has led to a slight increase in prices, around 200 or 250 euros for each of the first two years, and once this investment has been made, it will drop to practically 0 in the following years if you use many of the available promotions or take out participation credits.
Does it seem expensive?
In my opinion, not at all. We are talking about a top quality online competition, with real drivers in each series and live broadcasts. It is the pinnacle of simracing at an organizational and competitive level and available at all hours of the day.
