The esports event organizer ESL has revealed more details about their upcoming racing championship, known as ESL R1. A promotional video shared on social media showed some of the cars that will be used on the Rennsport simulation platform, such as the Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R and the BMW M4 GT3.
First Event Date Announced
- Additionally, it was announced that the full reveal date will be January 23rd, 2023, where teams and drivers are expected to be announced, as well as the first event date.

Competitive and Experienced Teams and Drivers
- The drivers and teams that are expected to be announced are highly competitive and experienced in the racing esports world, and some of them may participate in the Le Mans Virtual 24-hour event before any changes to their teams are announced.
- Furthermore, several racing esports stars are planned to leave their existing teams and sign with ESL-based squadrons for the competition, with Maximilian Benecke and Tommy Østgaard ready to move.
Additionally, it has been speculated that a team with experience in iRacing has signed an agreement with Audi, with the manufacturer’s support, but this information has not yet been confirmed or denied.
